4. There are also five specific hospitality programs concentrations. They include:
  • Food & Beverage
  • Guest Services
  • Recreation
  • Resorts Retail
  • Spa Operations
5. Each specific internship requires gives different types of experiences.
Food & Beverage: Maintaining guest service and hospitality standards
Learning labor and food cost procedures, cash control and opening and closing procedures
Overseeing service, including guest satisfaction, safety and sanitation according to regulations
Shadowing and learning operational standards for areas including Host, Server, Server Assistant, Barback, Attendant, Cashier, Runner & Order Taker
Guest Services: Providing guest assistance and general knowledge of events, and activities Shadowing and learning operational standards for areas including: housekeeping, concierge, bell stand, valet, transportation, front desk services, PBX/service express
• Recreation: Assisting with the management of the pool complexes at each property Planning and executing special events and activities for children and guests Overseeing fitness centers and lifeguard activities at each property Shadowing and learning operational standards for positions including: lifeguards*, activities and child care attendants
• Resorts Retail: Providing guest assistance and general knowledge to guests visiting retail areas within the Resorts properties shadowing and learning operational standards in areas including: gift shop clerks and Sales Associates
• Spa Operations: Assisting in coordinating Spa operations while learning operational standards in the following areas: Spa Massage Therapy, Spa Esthetician, Spa Nail Technicians, Spa Host and Spa Receptionists
Providing guest service and hospitality standards with general knowledge of events, promotions and operational standards for the department assigned

6. The length of the internship differs but the average internship is around 12 weeks, but this specific program is 14 weeks.
7. The participant is paid every two weeks during the internship.
8. Housing is available, and the price will be deducted from the paycheck.

Program Benefits
Opportunity to shadow and work a “Manager-on-duty” shift at The Hotel Hershey. Work side-by-side with an assigned MOD during a full shift. Interns will learn how to oversee a resort property, learn about the Diamond Standards of guest service and see the “behind the scenes” work of a property manager
Introductory luncheon and concluding banquet where you as the intern can provide feedback on the experience with the general managers of the properties
Customize your experience: You can select a department of your choosing or shadow another property
Extended Learning Conference: A one-day conference where students will have the option to learn about other areas of the program, interact with management and hear about selective topics within the hospitality industry
Opportunity to complete a project that supports operational standards for the primary role of the intern
Program Requirements:
Must be 18 yrs. of age or older
For students interested in Recreation/Activities: must have current lifeguard training certificate, CPR and first aid certification
Must be a Junior or Senior majoring/minoring in the Hospitality and Tourism, Food and Beverage, Spa Management and Recreation Management fields
Must be able to attend the company site visit and interview event which will be discussed during the selection process
